On this day in 1804, Napolean Bonaparte crowned himself Emperor of France in Notre Dame Cathedral.

On this day in 1823, US President established the Monroe Doctrine in a speech advocating neutrality in all future European disputes.

On this day in 1927, the Ford Motor Company unveils the Model A, after nineteen years of producing the Model T.

On this day in 1942, the Manhattan Project - a team of engineers led by Enrico Fermi initiated the first self-sustaining nuclear chain reaction.

And, in Chuckery, Ohio in 1885, it was reported that Loren and Layton Smith, students at OWU in Delaware, are home in Chuckery on a break from school.
