On this day in 1836, Sam Houston's forces captured General Santa Anna.


On this day in 1864, the US Government mandated that all coins minted by the US for usage as US currency must display the words, "In God We Trust."


On this day in 1889, the Land Run of 1889 began at noon.  Before the close of the day, two cities - Oklahoma City and Guthrie, were formed with populations over 10,000 each!


On this day in 1970, the first EARTH DAY was celebrated.
And, in Chuckery, Ohio in 1891, John Rausch and his wife were in Chuckery to visit relatives.
