On this day in 1547, Ivan the Terrible became Czar of Russia.

On this day in 1919, the 18th amendment to the US Constitution was ratified. This authorized Prohibition a year after the ratification of the amendment.

On this day in 2001, former US President Theodore Roosevelt was posthumously awarded the Medal of Honor for his service during the Spanish-American War.

And, in Chuckery, Ohio in 1894, Miss Elva Magill recently returned home from an extended visit to Galion.
