On this day in 1825, the U. S. Congress created the Oklahoma Territory.

On this day in 1861, Kansas was admitted to the Union as the 34th State. Kansas was admitted as a Free State providing a catalyst for the American Civil War.

On this day in 1886, Karl Benz patented the first gasoline powered automobile.

On this day in 1936, the Baseball Hall of Fame in Cooperstown, New York welcomed its first class of inductees.

On this day in 1963, the Pro Football Hall of Fame in Canton, Ohio welcomed its first class of inductees.

And, in Chuckery, Ohio in 1892, it was reported that Mr. and Mrs. Joel Fairbanks spent last Wednesday in Marysville.
