On this day in 1901, Queen Victoria of England dies, leaving the British throne to her son, Edward VII.

On this day in 1917, President Woodrow Wilson announces the neutrality of the US in WWI.

On this day in 1973, the US Supreme Court issued its ruling the the controversial Roe v. Wade effectively legalizing abortion in all fifty states.

On this day in 1984, Apple introduces the Apple Macintosh computer by commercial during Super Bowl XVIII. This was the famous "1984" commercial. The Apple Macintosh was the first consumer computer to utilize the computer mouse and a graphical user interface.

And, in Chuckery, Ohio in 1896, it was reported that Rev. and Mrs. Knust had a baby boy.
