On this day in 1864, General William Tecumseh Sherman takes the city of Savannah, Georgia, ending his "March to the Sea."

On this day in 1937, New York City's Lincoln Tunnel opened to traffic.

On this day in 2010, the US Military's policy of "Don't Ask, Don't Tell was repealed.

And, in Chuckery, Ohio in 1897, Lewis Chapel is holding an oyster dinner this week with proceeds intended to help reroof the church.
