On this day in 1776, General George Washington and the Continental Army crossed the Delaware River at Trenton, New Jersey to attack the Hessian Mercenaries who were hired by Great Britain.

On this day in 1868, President Andrew Johnson granted pardons to all Civil War Confederate Soldiers.

On this day in 1914, the Christmas Truces on the Western Front during WWI continued through Christmas Day.

And, in Chuckery, Ohio in 1889, the McCloud Family spent Sunday visiting the Russell Bigelow family.
