On this day in 1804, a ceremony was held in St. Louis, Missouri which marked the official transfer of land in the Louisiana Purchase.

On this day in 1876, Alexander Graham Bell made his first successful telephone call.

And, on this day in Chuckery in in 1897, it was reported that school sessions had not been held for a week in the Mitchell District due to the school mistress being a witness in a criminal case in court.
