On this day in 1820, the Missouri Compromise was passed by the US Congress. This Compromise prevented slavery in the area of the former Louisiana Territory except within the proposed boundaries of Missouri.

On this day in 1845, Florida became the 27th state admitted to the Union.

On this day in 1923, TIME magazine was first published.

And, in Chuckery, Ohio in 1893, Ben Homasher moved onto the Paris farm.
