On this day in 1862, Union forces stopped the Confederate invasion of the New Mexico territory.

On this day in 1990, Olympic Athlete Jesse Owens was awarded the Congressional Gold Medal posthumously by President George H. W. Bush.

And, in Chuckery, Ohio in 1899, George Renner and his family intend to move near Unionville.
