On this day in 1861, Jefferson Davis took office as President of the Confederate States of America.

On this day in 1930, Clyde Tombaugh discovered Pluto.

On this day in 1930, Elm Farm Ollie, a Guernsey cow, became the first cow to fly in an aircraft. She also was the first cow to be milked in flight.

And, in Chuckery, Ohio in 1891, it was reported that a masquerade was recently held at Mrs. Amanda King's house.
