The First Courthouse of Union County, Ohio

The first Union County Courthouse was located in Milford Center, Union County's first seat of justice. This first courthouse was a tiny log structure. This courthouse was used from May 1, 1820 until November of 1822. This log courthouse remained in Milford Center until 1907 when it was moved to the Union County Fairgrounds in Marysville. The building eventually deteriorated to a point that it could no longer be salvaged in spite of efforts to save it by the local DAR chapter. The original log court house had to be tore down. A replica of this first Union County Courthouse has been constructed in Milford Center.
