On this day in 1889, the 41st state, Montana, was admitted to the Union.

On this day in 1895, Wilhelm Röntgen discovered the x-ray.

On this day in 1933, President Franklin Delano Roosevelt announced the creation of the CWA - Civil Works Administration. This organization was intended to create over 4 million jobs for the unemployed of the Great Depression.

On this day in 1960, John Fitzgerald Kennedy was elected President of the United States, defeating Richard Nixon by one of the closest elections in history.

And, in Chuckery, Ohio in 1904, it was reported that Mr. and Mrs. G. D. Mitchell were in the neighborhood on Thursday visiting relatives.
