On this day in 1861, Jefferson Davis was elected president of the Confederate States of America.

On this day in 1934, Memphis, Tennessee was the first large city to join the TVA - Tennessee Valley Authority.

On this day in 2005, a tornado ripped through northwestern Kentucky and southwestern Indiana, killing 25 people.

And, in Chuckery, Ohio in 1889, it was reported that many in this neighborhood recently attended the funeral for John McClimmens.
