On this day in 1729, 138 men, women, and children were massacred in Mississippi by the Natchez Indians.

On this day in 1925, the Grand Ole Opry was first broadcast as the WSM Barn Dance.

And, in Chuckery, Ohio in 1893, it was reported that Thomas Douglas took his engine and corn sheller to Irwin, where he was making a nice profit shelling corn in that neighborhood.
